Gaubschat Fahrzeugwerke GmbH was founded in 1904 in Rixdorf (from 1912 Neukölln ) by Fritz Gaubschat . The company at Karl-Marx-Strasse 269–273 was primarily known for the production of bus trains .

1904-1945
After its foundation, Gaubschat mainly produced horse-drawn carriages and, from 1922, bus bodies on chassis from various manufacturers, including the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft . In 1937 the company presented the first omnibus train. This vehicle consisted of an omnibus and a positively steered trailer, which always followed the track of the rear axle of the bus. Gaubschat Fahrzeugwerke acquired the rights to build this vehicle from an Italian manufacturer. The bus train was quickly given the name "D-Zug der Landstraße" and became Gaubschat's most important product. Gaubschat supplied, among other things, the Deutsche Reichsbahn with these bus trains. The largest model was 22 meters long. During the Second World War , the Gaubschat vehicle factories received increasing armaments orders. Among other things, they also made bodies for gas trucks . In these "special vehicles", units of the SS killed people. This emerges from an exchange of letters between the chief of the security police and Gaubschat.
